Gaming Pumpkin 1You’ve seen them plastered across a multitude of gaming websites, usually on slow news days in the run up to Hallowe’en. You’ve thought, I want to make one of those. You’ve realised you don’t have a clue what to do. You retire in shame, another opportunity for game themed hilarity wasted. But not this year! MLG shows you how you can make your own carved pumpkin to proudly display on your porch before getting kicked in five minutes later by the local youths…

Step 1: Gather together a large glass bowl, two large spoons, a large sharp knife, and a small sharp knife. You'll also need a pumpkin, a marker pen, and an idea.

Step 2: That idea you had? Draw it onto the pumpkin. Keep it relatively simple, otherwise carving is a pain.

Step 3: Cut off the top off the pumpkin with the large knife (be quite firm if you have to) and clean up the lid a little.

Step 4: Scoop out the innards of the pumpkin with the two spoons. Chuck it in the large bowl for safe keeping. Large carving pumpkins are pretty inedible to be fair, but it makes really good fertiliser.

Step 5: Scrape out the sides of the pumpkin so they look smooth. Make sure to concentrate doing this where you'll be doing the carving, to make the process a little easier.

Step 6: Carefully carve your image using the smaller knife, making sure to hold onto the pumpkin for support. When you've made the cuts, go over them again from the inside at an angle. This lets more light out.

Step 7: Be patient, go over the angles again if you need to and you'll end up with something that looks like this. Pretty good eh? Get yourself a drink and marvel at what you've just created.
